Alejandro Marichal: “Public investment makes sense when it improves people's lives. Now residents have a safer and more accessible neighborhood, which ultimately translates into a higher quality of life for families.”

Lucía Jiménez: “The works, in which nearly 794.000 euros have been invested, began in February 2025 and have met the planned execution period of 18 months.”

The Housing Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has completed the rehabilitation works of the 106 homes in Castillo del Romeral , the first action to be completed within the rehabilitation plan promoted by the area to improve the residential stock of the municipality.

The Councillor for Housing, Lucía Jiménez, highlights that the works began in February 2025 and were completed this August, meeting the planned execution period of 18 months . The project involved a total investment of €793.955,47 , of which €400.000 was contributed by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council and €393.955,47 by the Gran Canaria Housing Consortium.

“The project involved rehabilitating the facades and roofs, improving accessibility through new adapted entrances, and renovating the common areas and outdoor spaces. These actions have transformed a residential complex with significant conservation needs into a safer, more accessible, modern, and pleasant environment to live in,” Jiménez concludes.

The First Deputy Mayor, Alejandro Marichal, emphasized that "this project demonstrates that public investment makes sense when it improves people's lives. Today, residents have a safer, more accessible development with better common areas, which translates into a higher quality of life for the families who live here . "

For her part, the Councillor for Housing, Lucía Jiménez, pointed out that "the rehabilitation of the 106 homes in Castillo del Romeral is the first project we have completed within the municipal rehabilitation plan and represents another step in this City Council's commitment to recovering and modernizing our housing stock. We continue working so that more residents can benefit from these improvements in other neighborhoods of the municipality . "

Rehabilitation not only helps preserve buildings, but also directly improves the daily lives of the families who live in them. The removal of architectural barriers, the renovation of common areas, and the modernization of the residential complex offer better accessibility, safety, and comfort for all residents.

Since the start of this legislative term, the Housing Department has allocated over €16 million for the rehabilitation of 716 homes across six residential developments in the municipality: La Paz, Grupo IFA, Santa Águeda (El Pajar), the 106 homes in Castillo del Romeral, and soon, Las Llaves. These projects will directly benefit 2.079 residents , representing one of the largest investments in residential rehabilitation undertaken by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council in the last 20 years.
