Air connectivity to southern Gran Canaria and the island as a whole faces August 2026 with a very positive outlook, registering a total of 553.234 regularly scheduled seats offered by airlines, representing an overall growth of 6,1% compared to the same period of the previous year. This net increase of 31.870 seats consolidates the archipelago's tourist appeal during the summer season, driven decisively by the surge in international markets, which have grown by 5,7% to reach 312.469 seats, while connectivity with the Spanish mainland has seen a 6,6% increase with 240.765 seats available.
Within the international landscape, the United Kingdom stands out as the main source of foreign visitors to the island, contributing 111.046 airline seats after growing by 9,3% compared to August 2025. The German market is close behind in volume with 54.587 seats, despite experiencing a slight adjustment of 2,1%, followed by the Netherlands, which consolidates its upward trend with 33.482 seats and a 6,1% increase. Also noteworthy are the significant percentage increases recorded in Nordic markets such as Norway, which experienced spectacular growth of 89,6% to 10.579 seats, and Denmark, which boosted its offering by 85,1% to 5.003 seats, reflecting the dynamism and diversification of tourist demand towards the hotel destinations in the south of the island.
Among the European markets that have significantly strengthened their presence at the island's airports are France, which has climbed to 15.210 seats with a 55,7% increase; Austria, with a 48,5% increase to 5.040 seats; and Luxembourg, which has advanced by 52,3% to reach 2.550 seats. Conversely, some markets are showing occasional adjustments to their flight schedules for this August, such as Italy, which has decreased by 19,7% to 8.746 seats offered, and Poland, which has registered a 20,0% decline to 1.544 seats. These figures, however, do not diminish the overall positive results of a summer season marked by the general strengthening of air routes to southern Gran Canaria.
