Emergency services prepared the La Esperanza dock for the landing of the SUC medical helicopter, but resuscitation efforts failed to save the victim's life.
A 39-year-old man died on Tuesday after suffering a cardiac arrest at the Dorado Beach Hotel in Arguineguín, in the municipality of Mogán. Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency services and the cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers performed for several minutes, it was not possible to reverse the situation, and his death was confirmed.
After receiving the alert, the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 activated a large-scale health and security operation. Among the resources mobilized were the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) medical helicopter, several life support ambulances, and personnel from various emergency services.
Special operation at the La Esperanza Pier
With the aim of facilitating the fastest possible intervention, the emergency teams set up the esplanade of the Muelle de La Esperanza, in the port of Arguineguín, as a temporary helipad to allow the landing and subsequent takeoff of the SUC medical helicopter.
While the medical team provided assistance to the patient at the hotel, the deployed personnel secured the perimeter of the dock to guarantee air operations under safe conditions.
Extensive coordinated deployment
The operation involved the medical helicopter and ambulances from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), a team from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium based in the Puerto Rico park, agents from the Mogán Local Police, volunteers from the Mogán Civil Protection and patrols from the Civil Guard.
Once the man's death was confirmed, the Civil Guard took charge of the body and the corresponding investigation, pending judicial authorization. The remaining resources concluded the operation after securing the area and restoring normalcy.
