The Spanish Tourism Institute (Turespaña) and Gran Canaria Tourism have officially signed the addendum to extend the collaboration agreement focused on the development of a specialized training program in international tourism promotion and knowledge generation, an initiative that will remain in force in the network of tourism offices integrated into Spain's diplomatic missions abroad.
The document will become fully effective once the mandatory procedures for registration in the state public register and its subsequent official publication in the State Gazette have been completed, consolidating the channels of institutional cooperation between the State and the Island Council to promote the international projection of the tourist destination of southern Gran Canaria.
The ministerial resolution, signed in July and formally published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), seals the continuity of this strategic alliance originally signed on September 26, 2022 under the regulatory framework of the legal regime of the state public sector.
In accordance with the initial clauses of the original agreement, the cooperation instrument was initially valid for a four-year period, contingent upon its registration in the State Electronic Register of Cooperation Bodies and Instruments (REOICO). Given its approaching expiration, both institutions have unanimously agreed to extend the agreement for an additional four years.
The addendum has been ratified by the general director of Turespaña, Miguel Sanz Castedo, representing the presidency of the state body, and by the president of Turismo de Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo Cabrera, with the public faith of the head of the general affairs section of the island entity, Eduardo Suárez Rancel.
The extension confirms the full validity of the terms and conditions set out in the original text of the 2022 agreement, ensuring that island professionals continue to benefit from the technical specialization programs in the central bodies of Turespaña and in the external tourism offices abroad.
