The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has launched a tender for an ambitious renovation of public infrastructure in Campo Internacional de Maspalomas, initially focusing on Avenida Touroperador Kuoni. This project, whose Phase I has just been technically defined, aims to completely transform the urban landscape of this key thoroughfare, adapting it to current standards of accessibility, functionality, and sustainability. The planned works not only seek to remedy existing deterioration but also to completely modernize the image of an area that combines residential and tourist uses, ensuring its integration into the established urban fabric.
The scope of the project is comprehensive and includes the replacement and upgrading of all outdated infrastructure. The action plan includes the complete renovation of pedestrian routes, the reorganization of green areas, and the modernization of public lighting, which will be upgraded to high-energy-efficiency LED technology. Regarding paving, the project includes the replacement of sidewalks and curbs, incorporating tactile paving at intersections and key locations to comply with universal accessibility regulations. On the roadway, the surface will be milled and replaced with hot-mix asphalt, ensuring the functional continuity of the road and the proper integration of affected utility networks, manholes, and access points.
The execution of this Phase I has an estimated contract budget of €863.522,84. The project, which includes a Health and Safety Study valued at €29.916,89, is estimated to take six months to complete all work units. An average of 12 workers are expected to be on site simultaneously, with a total estimated labor volume of 1.440 workdays. The start of work will be preceded by surveying and topographic control to ensure the correct implementation of the planned alignments and grades.
The project site, Avenida Touroperador Kuoni, is a major thoroughfare with high pedestrian and vehicular traffic, connecting several residential developments and accommodation complexes in the Campo Internacional area. Due to this well-established residential and tourist environment, the work will require close coordination with multiple public service agencies. These include the Municipal Public Lighting Service, the Traffic and Transportation Department, the Water Technical Unit, Endesa Distribución (the electricity distribution company), telecommunications companies, and the island's transport company, Global, to manage traffic disruptions, relocate waste containers, and ensure accessibility during the paving and resurfacing phase.
