One person has died this afternoon in a traffic accident on the GC-1 highway, near Tarajalillo, within the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The incident occurred on the road heading towards Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and prompted the mobilization of three ambulances from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), firefighters from San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and traffic officers from the Civil Guard. Paramedics performed resuscitation maneuvers at the scene, but were unable to save the victim's life.
The intervention required the temporary closure of one lane, causing traffic jams in the area. Road maintenance crews from the Gran Canaria Island Council subsequently repaired the roadway, while a crane removed the damaged vehicle.
