The cumulative figures for international air traffic at Gran Canaria Airport during the first eight months of the year place Amsterdam Airport Schiphol at the undisputed top of the list for international connections. Excluding all domestic and regional flights to and from the Canary Islands, official Aena statistics reveal that the major Dutch airport hub handled a total of 137.523 passengers traveling to the island between January and August, representing a year-on-year increase of 2,88% compared to the 133.670 passengers recorded during the same period of the previous year.

This volume consolidates the Dutch corridor as the strongest and most resilient external artery in the mid-Atlantic, easily surpassing the traditional Central European and British giants in the year's accumulated balance.

Behind Schiphol, the map of accumulated international passenger numbers reveals a fierce competition in Northern Europe, where Düsseldorf Airport is overtaking the main German hubs. Düsseldorf has secured second place on the continent, reaching 127.136 passengers, experiencing a year-on-year growth of 5,15%, a stark contrast to the general sluggishness of the German sector.

At the opposite end of the spectrum among Germany's major airports, Frankfurt am Main Airport suffered a sharp decline in the eight-month period, accumulating 104.982 passengers and registering a year-on-year contraction of 9,84% compared to the 116.442 users of the previous year, reflecting a loss of market share in favor of the Rhineland airports and the alternative corridors of Benelux.

Connections from the United Kingdom complete the core of accumulated foreign operations, showing a very favorable trajectory driven by strong summer demand and the break from classic seasonality.

Manchester Airport leads this British group with 106.756 passengers so far this year, representing a 5,11% increase. It is closely followed by London Gatwick Airport, which has reached 105.698 passengers after a surge of 8,9%. Birmingham Airport, meanwhile, has contributed 74.279 passengers, with a year-on-year increase of 11,32%, confirming that Gran Canaria's tourism sector maintains a diversified and robust external dependence thanks to the combined strength of the British Isles and the Netherlands.
