San Roque University Hospitals and the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the province of Las Palmas, have signed an agreement by which the psychological care service of the AECC will provide its services at the Canario Comprehensive Oncology Center of the aforementioned health complex. Professionals from the AECC will be in charge of the psychological care of both admitted cancer patients who wish to do so and their families, thus fulfilling the purposes of said association and the comprehensive care of the oncology service.
Psychological care services aim to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and their families, reducing the emotional, relational and social alterations that may arise as a consequence of the disease. To develop the program, the AECC will make available to the hospital a professional who, in person, will provide assistance and psychological support completely free of charge from both entities.
The president of the Provincial Board of the AECC of Las Palmas, Fernando Fraile, has formalized the agreement with the vice president of HUSR, Herminia Rodríguez, and the head of Oncology, Dr. Pedro Lara.
