The Health Department undertakes today and tomorrow the fumigation of the Maspalomas Pond and the Tony Gallardo Park, as a preventive measure against mosquito infestations and other insects that can affect the population of the municipality.
The city council, through its current contract for comprehensive pest control, carries out work to eradicate the insect larvae that, due to the meteorological changes typical of this season, have been generated in the protected space of the Charca de Maspalomas and in Tony Gallardo Park. The fumigation work is being carried out today and will continue on Wednesday at the aforementioned points and is supervised by health and environmental technicians.
The mayor, Concepción Narváez, has highlighted the importance of carrying out these prevention tasks “which, if not carried out, can cause problems for the population. In recent weeks, rain and sun have combined and formed the ideal breeding ground for insect larvae, and more specifically, for mosquito larvae. "The protection of the population against this type of pests is one of the priorities for the Department of Health."
Clara Martel, Councilor for Health, has reported that “the fumigation, with low ecological impact products, will be carried out during these two days, starting with the protected space of the Charca de Maspalomas and the surrounding area. Immediacy is essential in this type of action to avoid minor and even serious bites.”
