Francisco García stated that “the ideal would be to return to absolute normality and be able to hold a carnival with events in the street.”
The Santa Lucía de Tirajana carnival will begin next March 3 at 8 pm with the proclamation that will be given by the oral narrators Yudeyna Santana and Paula Gil, after the proclamation there will be the performance of the Murgota. Mayor Francisco García, and the Councilor for Culture, Yaiza Pérez, presented this Tuesday the 2022 Carnival program that is dedicated to books and the poster announcing the festivities that due to the pandemic will not have massive events in the street.
At the press conference held on the stage of the Víctor Jaral theater surrounded by giant books, the mayor and the councilor were accompanied by the town criers, the author of the poster, Juan José Sánchez, and representatives of the carnival groups and the animation workshop.
Francisco García stated that "the ideal would be to return to absolute normality and be able to hold a carnival with events in the street, which is what not only the citizens but also the workers in the Culture area of the City Council want, but unfortunately not it's possible". The first mayor thanked the work "of the different groups that make the Santa Lucía de Tirajana carnival, also to the animation workshop that has made the Allegory of the Carnival a hallmark of our carnival." García congratulated the author of the advertising poster and said that "last week I attended a rehearsal by the murga Los Lenguetudos and I was able to see the enthusiasm and work with which they prepare throughout the year."
The Councilor for Culture, Yaiza Pérez, stated that "we had designed a carnival with a program similar to the one before the pandemic, but the increase in infections forced us to change everything and adapt it to health restrictions." Pérez added that "we are once again making a program thinking about all tastes and audiences, and also taking into account the elements that identify us." The councilor was convinced that Yudeyna Santana and Paula Gil “are going to offer us a great speech, because I know that they have been preparing it for a long time with great enthusiasm.” The town crier Paula Gil said “thank you for having us to make the proclamation, which made us very excited and that is why we are preparing it with great enthusiasm.” Along the same lines, Yudeyna added that "she also thanked the Department of Culture for the invitation to be a preacher. After the initial surprise, the excitement turned into work, work, work, to prepare a proclamation in which we tell them about a carnival of books." ”.
