The south of Gran Canaria never ceases to impress with the greatness of the destination. The arrival of mass tourism took many people out of the agricultural sector starting in 1961 with the call by the family of the county of La Vega Grande for an international contest of ideas for more than 20.000 hectares of land and a coastline of more than 17 kilometers long, where the beaches of San Agustín, Bahía Feliz, Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas are located, with a large area declared as a Special Natural Reserve of the Dunes of Maspalomas since 1982.
