There is a state company that updates tourism in the south of Gran Canaria: Tragsa. This company, in the orbit of the SEPI, is one of the unknown protagonists of improving the projection of the south of Gran Canaria. It is the company that executes the management tasks for new infrastructures. And, although it may not seem like it, its shareholding includes the Cabildo de Gran Canaria with 0,034%, enough for it to be able to execute the projects entrusted to it at high speed. This 2022 marks 45 years alongside the improvements of the leading tourism destination in the Canary Islands.
Since 1977 Tragsa has had a presence in Tirajana, when it was called the Institute of Agrarian Reform and Development, IRYDA. With his experience, Gran Canaria Tourism has a historical ally. Thus, last December the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium, participated by the Insular Institution itself and the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, gave the green light for Tragsa to carry out the landscaping project for the palm grove oasis of Maspalomas, which is budgeted at 2 million of euros. Gran Canaria undertakes that Tragsa carries out this action. For its part, the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium assumes the full financing of this action, which is one of those carried out based on the agreement it has maintained with Turismo de Gran Canaria since October 1, 2020, within the line of investments of the 2020 Strategic Subsidy Plan of said entity, within the framework of the Economic Reactivation Plan of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.
But not everything is works. The state company won the Miguel Martín-Fernández de la Torre architecture award in 2020 under the direction of architects Pedro Romera García and Ángela Ruiz Martínez carried out by Tragsa in the Tony Gallardo park, located in the Special Natural Reserve of Las Dunas de Maspalomas in Gran Canaria. In these 45 years Tragsa has diversified our lines of activity to new segments, such as the execution of infrastructure in the south of Gran Canaria; technological improvement in the use of water and food safety; the treatment and restoration of emergencies, from fighting forest fires to any type of social emergency; or natural disasters or climate accidents, offering an immediate response.
