The Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit of the Police (UDEF) of the National Police Corps investigates twenty operations in the area of urban planning of San Bartolomé de Tirajana between 2018 and 2020 for the alleged existence of a box B in different management periods of licenses for both real estate and, for example, ditches. This news was announced this weekend exclusively Canary 7.
The alleged opaque accounting would reveal that companies benefiting from low-cost licenses carried out minor works when in reality they were developing other types of projects. These data appear in several reports that have been incorporated into a case regarding a box B in San Bartolomé de Tirajana and that would have harmed public interests by generating less income for the public coffers. The newspaper Canarias 7 points out this weekend that UDEF agents have already been to the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council at least twice to analyze 40 procedures of the Department of Urban Planning between 2018 and 2022. "In 2018 they will investigate 12 licenses , from 2019, another 13, from 2020, in which the pandemic significantly reduced activity, four files and from 2021, 12 more. They would even have to do with hotel complexes", indicates Canarias 7.
In this data, the Police analyze, among others, documentation from licenses granted in the south of Gran Canaria that are investigating allegedly irregular operations and that would corroborate the dynamics of a B box in exchange for obtaining licenses at a lower cost. Canarias 7 adds that the agents demand information from a list of nine of those fee payment procedures, which correspond to at least three different addresses in the tourist area of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
