The Mayor's Department resumes the activity, on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9.30:XNUMX in the El Tablero Pavilion
The Mayor's Department of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has resumed the training of the handball team adapted to older people, which had been suspended with the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020.
The team, which has 15 years of history in the municipality, is made up of older people, both men and women, from San Fernando and El Tablero de Maspalomas, aged between 60 and 81 years. For the proper development of the activity, the elderly practice handball with rules and training adapted to their physical condition.
We work with this sport, what the council intends to do is to encourage, among other things, coordination, movement, resistance and play, exercises that undoubtedly help with cognitive maintenance and promote leisure among the elderly. Training will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. in the El Tablero Pavilion.
At the presentation of this return to activity was the Mayor's councilor, María de los Ángeles Vega Rodríguez, who pointed out “the importance of resuming these training sessions in order to increase the offer of activities for our seniors, as well as gradually recovering the routine of the council, with leisure activities and free time.”
Excursion to Tejeda

In this sense, on March 25, the Mayor's Department organized a visit to the town of Tejeda. The activity, framed within the Physical Education Program for seniors, consisted of an urban walk through the town and a visit to the Museum of Medicinal Plants. They were also able to see the Tejeda Art Gallery, the Church and visit the Information Center on Risco Caído in Tejeda.
110 seniors from the neighborhoods of Cercados de Espino, El Pajar, El Tablero, San Fernando, Tunte, Juan Grande and Aldea Blanca participated in the activity, who were in turn divided into three subgroups to comply with health measures and who were in at all times accompanied by staff from the council and Civil Protection staff. Once the activity was over, they enjoyed free time to eat in Tejeda.
