The distribution of funds for the island within the framework of the 2022 Concerted Plan for Basic Social Services Benefits represents an increase of 17,81% compared to 2021
This year, the island of Gran Canaria will receive, within the framework of the Concerted Plan for Basic Social Services Benefits, through which community social services and social care programs for the most vulnerable families in the municipalities are financed, a global amount of 14.987.241,99. 2,265.591,56 euros, 17,81 euros more, that is, 2021% more than in XNUMX.
Of the total amount, the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, will have 5.934.826,97 euros, which represents an increase of 15,92% compared to 2021.

The Concerted Plan, whose protocol for the distribution of funds has been recently signed between the Department of Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Canarian Federation of Municipalities (FECAM), amounts to a global one for the entire Archipelago this year. of 41.294.742 euros, 6.047.428 euros more than in 2021 and more than double compared to 2019, when the investment reached 20.182.927 euros.
During the signing ceremony, the Minister of Social Rights, Noemí Santana, recalled that “since we assumed this Department in the Canary Islands Government, we have increased the amount allocated to community social services each year, increasing the financing for this by 125%. protocol from the 18 million it had in 2018 to more than 41 million euros in 2022.”
Through the signing of the Distribution Protocol of the Concerted Plan for Basic Social Services Benefits, the financial coverage of municipal social services and the resources aimed at caring for families in situations of greater social vulnerability, such as the Canary Islands Benefit, are guaranteed. Insertion (PCI), home help services, social service centers, day centers or care for people at social risk, in addition to financing the resources and programs for the necessary care for families and people in situation of poverty and social exclusion who reside in the Islands.
