The Carnival of Books begins this Thursday in Saint Lucia

The Santa Lucía de Tirajana carnival will begin this Thursday, March 3 at 8 pm with the proclamation that will be given by the oral narrators Yudeyna Santana and Paula Gil, after the proclamation there will be the performance of the Murgota. You can still pick up free invitations for the proclamation at the Municipal Athenaeum and tickets for 3 euros for the three performances of the allegory that will be on Friday the 4th. On Saturday there will be the Tribute to Juan Luis Guerra and on Sunday the Family Carnival.

 

The Councilor for Culture, Yaiza Pérez, stated that “with the proclamation of Yudeya Santana and Paula Gil, our carnival begins, which has events throughout the weekend, such as the allegory on Friday and events on Saturday and Sunday. The councilor adds that "you can still get tickets at the Municipal Athenaeum, I hope that citizens attend the different performances that have been scheduled to be able to celebrate, within sanitary restrictions, this year's festivities." 

 

The protagonists of the proclamation this year are two oral narrators from the municipality, Yudeyna Santana and Paula Gil, who recognize that "we have prepared the text with great enthusiasm, because it is an honor to proclaim our carnival." After the proclamation there will be the performance of the Murgota. 

 

Three performances of the Carnival allegory are scheduled for Friday the 4th, which is once again in charge of the City Hall's Animation Workshop. The performances will be at 19.30:21 p.m., 22,30:5 p.m. and 6:12 p.m., tickets can still be purchased at the Municipal Athenaeum. The carnival program continues this Saturday, March XNUMX, with the tribute to Juan Luis Guerra at the Víctor Jara theater. On Sunday, March XNUMX at XNUMX noon there will be the Family Carnival with a performance by the band Los Piojillos. Tickets for these two performances can also be purchased online at entree.es.

 

 On Monday, March 7 at 18:8 p.m., the Traditional Carnival will have Pinito la del Norte as master of ceremonies. The theater group Ansite, and the groups from the municipality Achimencey, Roca Canaria, Grupo depulse will also take to the stage of the Víctor Jara theater. and Púa from the Municipal School of Music, and the Santa Lucía de Tirajana Dance Corps. Invitations for these performances must be picked up at the Municipal Athenaeum. On Tuesday, March 5, at XNUMX in the afternoon at the Víctor Jara Theater, the Carnival will be held, the dance and dance schools and educational centers of the municipality will be the protagonists in this children's event that will be presented by Thania Gil.

 

On Wednesday, March 9, the Chirimurga del timple is scheduled to perform, who will present their show 'Los que se comen el coco', tickets for 3 euros at entrée.es. On Thursday, March 10, there will be the 'Meeting of Murgas of Santa Lucía de Tirajana', with the Lengüetudos, the Tramposas, the Despistadas and Los Chancletas, free tickets at the Ateneo Municipal and at entrée.es. On Friday, the municipality's carnival buses will travel along Avenida de Canarias in the Carnival Parade. That same day at the Víctor Jara theater at 21 p.m. there will be Drag Cabaret Night, a fun and transgressive night. The Víctor Jara Theater will become a Cabaret where drag performers will perform their best numbers in a show presented by Yanely Hernández and José Carlos Campos. On Saturday, March 12 at 11.30:XNUMX there will be the Family Carnival with the Supergrandmother's concert.
