The energy supply for the facilities will come from a 100kw photovoltaic plant installed on the roof of the skating rink.
The renovation and reconditioning of the San Fernando Swimming Pool facilities, carried out through the Maspalomas Tourist Rehabilitation Consortium, with an investment of approximately 472.000 euros, will result in a saving of 70% in energy consumption and 30% in products. chemicals. This was explained by those responsible for the project in the technical visit carried out last week by the president of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and president of the Consortium, Antonio Morales Méndez, the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Concepción Narváez Vega, the Minister of Tourism, Carlos Álamo Cabrera, and the first deputy mayor, Samuel Henríquez Quintana.
Photovoltaic energy, with a 100 KW plant that will be installed on the roof of the skating rink, will serve to achieve a zero energy balance. It should be noted that the gap between energy production and consumption will be used by the City Council's own facilities in the area.
It is self-consumption that seeks to produce and consume energy, as a commitment to fight energy poverty and a true environmentally and socially fair energy transition. On the one hand, in order to help the decarbonization of Gran Canaria and responsible production and consumption; and, on the other hand, social because it seeks to provide quality service to residents, with the aim that said investment does not entail a cost, since subsidies are received per KW produced. In this way, the renovation of the pool will allow the investment made to have a complete amortization capacity.
During the visit, in addition, other technical qualities that the facilities will have once the execution of the project is completed were explained, among them the air conditioning of the swimming pools and the ACS (Domestic Hot Water) through solar thermal collectors stands out. Elsewhere, the pools will have high-performance heat pumps to maintain a regulated temperature throughout the year and will have blankets that will allow a temperature up to 7ºC higher than the current first thing in the morning.
On the other hand, there will be two 2.500 liter tanks to accumulate preheated water at around 40ºC and which will pass to another 2.500 liter tank at 60ºC using an electric heat pump.
This project begins a new approach to managing the facilities and investments of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, which will serve as an example for the rest of the facilities, both public and private.
