The Island Government Council agrees to convene an aid line of 900.000 euros aimed at social entities and another of 350.000, for town councils
Promoting the associative movement, encouraging citizen coexistence and promoting the execution of unique projects are the objectives that have led the Cabildo of Gran Canaria to grant 1,41 million euros this year in three lines of subsidies, to finance actions that promote town councils, social entities, companies and individuals.
The Island Government Council, at the request of the Ministry of the Presidency, has given the green light in its session today to the launch of the three calls.
Thus, the Insular Corporation has agreed to launch a call for subsidies with an amount of 900.000 euros, aimed at projects, activities or actions of a neighborhood nature, for the elderly or to promote the folklore of the Island that are launched by entities. social, in order to enhance the development of the people and neighborhoods of Gran Canaria, through the promotion of the associative movement and citizen coexistence.
This aid is intended to cover the celebration of popular events that contribute to the development and consolidation of the popular customs and traditions of the Island, and those that favor the integration of other communities into these local traditions.
Likewise, the funds will pay for events such as courses, workshops, conferences and other cultural, training, educational and sports activities, as well as actions aimed at promoting the most disadvantaged sectors of the population and promoting civility and citizen coexistence.
They will also be allocated to the expenses generated by the repair of office equipment and other belongings, the use and maintenance of the headquarters, the acquisition of furniture and equipment, and the creation of web pages or any other project that includes elements of associative dynamization. .
These subsidies will be granted to neighborhood associations, federations or confederations, non-profit sports societies, folk groups, festival boards or commissions, senior citizens' associations and non-profit entities that specifically accredit in their statutes as one of their The objectives are to carry out activities for the neighbors, for the elderly or to promote Gran Canaria folklore.
Aid to municipal governments
The Island Government body has also approved calling for a second aid package with 350.000 euros for the projects undertaken by the Gran Canaria town councils in order to promote citizen coexistence.
The purpose is to finance socio-educational actions, such as courses, workshops or training days complementary to those developed in the municipality, both in person and via streaming; actions that promote community health, local development and improvement of living conditions; studies on strategies and projects that promote citizen coexistence and the increase in cohesion and social relations; the celebration of cultural, popular or festive events; and the publication of books or audiovisuals that contribute to the development and consolidation of popular traditions.
The distribution of these funds between the municipalities has been calculated based on a fixed amount and another variable amount depending on the population, with a limit of 60.000 euros per beneficiary. In this way, the maximum amount that will be granted to Agaete will be 8.802 euros; to Agüimes, 17.159; to Artenara, 7.331; and Arucas, 19.194. For its part, Firgas may receive up to 9.377 euros; Gáldar, 14.738; Ingenuity, 17.090; Mogán, 13.509; and Moya, up to 9.478.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will be eligible for 60.000 euros; San Bartolomé de Tirajana at 23.792; The Village of San Nicolás, at 9.378; Santa Brígida, at 12.790; Santa Lucía de Tirajana, at 30.281; and Santa María de Guía, at 11.389.
Finally, a maximum amount of 7.590 euros will be allocated to Tejeda, while that of Telde will be 39.520; that of Teror, 10.997; that of Valleseco, 8.187; that of Valsequillo, 9.968; and that of Vega de San Mateo, 9.419.
Funds for projects of a unique nature
In the same session, approval was also given to the call for subsidies with a total amount of 160.000 euros, to finance projects of a unique nature to which non-profit entities and Canarian foundations that carry out projects in Gran Canaria may benefit. and individuals and private companies whose initiatives are not actions inherent to their commercial activity.
With this third line of aid, the Cabildo will subsidize scientific and technological conferences, forums, meetings, publications, book editions and awards, among other initiatives, that are of interest to Gran Canaria society and that, due to their characteristics, are considered unique. Therefore, the Island Institution's calls for aid in its different subjects would not fulfill the objective of any of them.
It should be noted that both projects that have already been developed in 2021 and those that will be undertaken throughout 2022 will be eligible for this call.
