On Thursday, a holiday in the municipality, the chirigotas 'El Bizcocho' and 'Los Lilones', two of the most prominent groups of the Cádiz Carnival, burst into the Plaza del Teatro Auditorio to make people laugh out loud with their particular form of interpretation and its unique staging. On Saturday, in addition to the Lagarta and Bastona Election, 12 murgas – 10 from the municipality and 2 from other municipalities in the Southeast – had the opportunity to get on stage after two years of inactivity, to show that, despite the pandemic, the murguero spirit remains intact in Agüimes.
Finally, this Sunday the historical figures of the Agüimes Carnival starred in the show 'Do you know me mascarita?', led by the Aragüimé troupe and the comedian Maestro Florido. There was no shortage of the municipality's pro carnival dancers, a recreation of the carnivals of yesteryear and the music of a brass band, along with the traditional papahuevos dance.
