The Southeast Commonwealth acquires a new crusher

Since this Tuesday, the Commonwealth of Southeastern Santa Lucía has a new machine to crush the prunings of the municipalities of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Agüimes and Ingenio. The crusher has a capacity that triples what the community currently has, and has cost 288.363 euros, financed with the budget of the community and with the support also of the Insular Rural Development Association (Aider) of Gran Canaria, which has contributed a 30% of its cost.

The mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana and president of the Intermunicipal Association of the Southeast, Francisco García, the mayor of Ingenio, Ana Hernández and the manager of Aider Gran Canaria, Juani Vega, presented the new crusher this Wednesday, accompanied by councilors from the three municipalities. Francisco García highlighted that "with this machine it will be possible to crush 250.000 m3 of pruning per year, so it will cover, together with the other crusher that we already have, all the needs of the parks and gardens of the three municipalities."

The material will be used for livestock bedding and for composts, mixing it with organic collection material. The resulting compost will be used in the gardens of the Southeast Commonwealth, without the need to transport the waste to the environmental complexes. They will also crush private prunings.

García added that "the machine will be located in the three municipalities, according to needs, and its work will be linked to the waste collection contract." The crusher has a loading crane, unloading belt, road cart approved for 80 km/h, magnetic roller for metals and a motor that rides on a trailer. The contract was signed on July 8, 2021, it had a delivery time of 16 weeks, but due to the international circumstances of the component markets it has suffered a significant delay.
