In it, possible avenues of collaboration between the two institutions were addressed in different projects for the promotion and development of tourist infrastructure and the representative of the island administration committed to supporting the celebration of the Villa de Ingenio 2022 International Folklore Festival 'Solidarity Exhibition of the Pueblos', with the aim of promoting an event that is of regional interest and Canarian folklore and culture among the tourists who visit us; and that serves, at the same time, as a promotional tool for the tourist destination in different international fairs and events.
Carlos Álamo pointed out after finishing the meeting that the support of Gran Canaria Tourism will be articulated through economic means, with the contribution of 10.000 euros, and formulas will also be sought to participate in the calendar of meetings and talks of the event, which will take place between on July 8 and 24. “For us it is important that this festival continues to grow and have a greater international projection after several years with difficulties derived from the pandemic, since it is an important example of the universal, supportive and welcoming character of a town like ours, which is open to welcoming everyone and their different cultures to our land with respect and hospitality, as seen in a festival that is a true melting pot of cultures,” said the Councilor.

For her part, Mayor Ana Hernández, who thanked the counselor for his collaboration, highlighted the importance of this festival, “which identifies us throughout the Canary Islands and also internationally, which recognizes the work of this municipality in defending traditions.” ”.
Álamo assured that the festival will be promoted among tourist clients as a way “to highlight and increase interest in Canarian folklore among the people who visit us and that this will be an important tool in our promotion, something of value because folklore as Craftsmanship also provides an emotional and differentiating ingredient to the memories it generates in our tourists.”
Finally, the counselor indicated that formulas are being sought to work actively on the festival program, with a calendar that extends over three weeks and that in addition to the offer of cultural shows, it has an important agenda of talks. and meetings. “We want to take advantage of this platform to promote the benefits and attributes of our destination among the clients who visit us and who include the cultural offer among their priorities when choosing a vacation destination,” he concluded.
