Coinciding with the arrival of Holy Week, the City Council puts back these elements, highly appreciated by bathers.
Easter is just around the corner and with it will come school holidays, good temperatures and days at the beach. It is the moment chosen by the Agüimes City Council to once again place one of the elements most valued by bathers in front of the coastline: the floating platforms.
Located about 100 meters from the shore, at points at least 6 meters deep during high tide, the three platforms installed serve as support for those who swim in Arinaga Bay and those simply looking for a place to rest, sunbathe or take a dip out to sea. They have stairs to facilitate access from the water and are suitable for all ages, although it is recommended that people who do not exercise regularly and those who do not have enough resistance and autonomy to swim move avoid using them.
The platforms are removed between October and April, to avoid the deterioration caused by strong waves and sea storms, common during the winter months. Its relocation, a sign of the beginning of good weather, coincides with the increase in the number of users on the beaches. The influx of people in Playa de Arinaga has registered a notable increase in recent years, not only residents of the municipality of Agüimes but also many visitors from other parts of Gran Canaria. Here they find a comfortable, clean and accessible beach, which is also surrounded by a magnificent restaurant offering.
