The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council today presented the Special Security Plan for this Holy Week, which involves an increase in personnel, controls and services both in the field of road traffic, in leisure areas and on beaches, with the objective of guaranteeing tourists and residents a quiet and safe vacation period. The device is activated from this Friday, April 8 to Sunday the 17th, both inclusive.
This municipal plan, the first to be implemented in the municipality, which directly involves five council departments of the Consistory (Local Police, Firefighters, Cleaning, Civil Protection and Beaches), has been coordinated jointly with the Government Delegation, the National Police and the tourism employers.
This was announced by the mayor of the municipality, Conchi Narváez, together with the first deputy mayor and Police Councilor, Samuel Henríquez, after the coordination meeting held today in the municipal offices and attended by, in addition to those responsible for the Local Police , Civil Protection Firefighters and Red Cross, the subdelegate of the Government, the commissioner of the National Police in Maspalomas, as well as those responsible for the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of Las Palmas (FEHT).
In the words of Narváez, “the forecasts for tourist occupancy in our municipality for this Holy Week anticipate an almost full house (85%), which means that thousands of visitors will enjoy all of our leisure offerings in these nine days.”

Precisely, the National Police, with a force of more than 400 police officers, has ordered the reinforcement of troops during daytime with police presence on seafront promenades and commercial areas. At night, reinforcement agents from the UPR (Prevention and Reaction Unit) are incorporated into the leisure areas.
Likewise, traffic controls will be carried out randomly to verify speed limits, use of mobile phones, alcohol intake and other substances that drivers may have consumed and that may compromise road safety, with special attention to the roads. urban.
