The councilor for what is called in modern language Environmental Policies, Antonio Felipe Pérez, has had to deactivate the contest so that an operator can dedicate himself to collecting the cars that are abandoned in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. This occurs due to an appeal by councilor Elena Álamo Vega, from AV, against the award criteria that govern the bidding procedure for contracting the service: zero cost. Until the matter is resolved, the procedure is suspended.
For the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Narváez Vega (PSOE), in March 2022 it was "a very important contract because there are many abandoned vehicles on our streets. This is one of the non-existent contracts that we found when we came to the government and we can say that during the next four years we will have this service that will allow us to start working with the removal of abandoned vehicles."
The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council put out to tender the contract for the management of vehicles at the end of their useful life, which meant removing some 350 vehicles that were in a state of abandonment from the streets and lots of the municipality. And since 2016 there was no contract in force that covered this type of service.
