This decision is made after the removal of restrictions associated with the pandemic
The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has notified restaurant establishments with temporary terraces on public roads to proceed with their progressive removal. To do this, they will have until next Monday, May 2, 2022. This measure is taken once the Government of the Canary Islands has established the end of the restrictions associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.
The expansion and installation of terraces on public roads was one of the main measures taken to benefit the restaurant and hospitality sector, where sidewalks and parking areas were occupied, but after the decision of the Government of the Canary Islands to eliminate all restrictions associated with the pandemic, the exceptional situation that was linked to the expansion of terraces on public roads has ceased to have effect. This implies that the terraces that obtained provisional authorization for the use of public roads must begin to be removed.
On the other hand, the council will inform companies interested in maintaining their terraces and standardizing them, that they will be able to carry out the corresponding procedures through the Department of Urban Planning, so that their proposal can be assessed and approved by the municipal technical service.
With this intention, the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council wants to continue supporting a fundamental sector for the municipality's economy and on which a large number of jobs depend.
