The exhibition, which can be visited until May 20, is made up of thirty paintings and sculptures by the artist from Agüim, in which a treatment of volumes and colors inspired by the style forged in the Luján Pérez School predominates.

In the first half of the 20th century, Gran Canaria had one of the brightest and most unique creative centers in its history. The Luján Pérez School, in the Vegueta neighborhood, forged many of the great figures of Canarian art, such as Felo Monzón, Jorge Oramas, Plácido Fleitas, Juan Ismael. Eduardo Gregorio, Abraham Cárdenes or Santiago Santana. Conceived as a space for debate and creation, it was the seed of indigenism, a movement that wanted to rescue what was indigenous based on the representation of the people, the landscapes and the social reality of the island. It is that recognizable style that is the star of the new exhibition by the Agüimes painter Juan González, at the Agüimes Art Gallery.

Most of the creations that make up the exhibition have the human figure in volumetric form as a constant. The artist paints motifs already used in previous stages, which are part of the environment in which he lives, but he does so with a different vision and a new pictorial treatment, a reflection of his constant concern for the search for new plastic languages with which to bring out light your deepest feelings. He thus achieves a chromatic, dazzling and daring painting.

His paintings also highlight material painting and a very personal treatment of textures, brave and honest resources with which Juan González emphasizes his interest in highlighting his deepest emotions, in bringing his rich inner world to the surface of the canvas. In addition to landscapes and traditional scenes, the exhibition is made up of a series of works with a more modern and realistic style dedicated to windsurfing, commissioned by the organization of the Pozo Izquierdo international championship.

The exhibition, made up of 29 paintings and 5 sculptures, can be visited until May 20, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. and from 16:00 p.m. to 21:00 p.m. Admission is free.
