Ultrasound-guided therapy (EGT): It is that therapeutic gesture assisted by a high-frequency ultrasound by which we are going to administer a substance (corticosteroids, local anesthetic, platelet-rich plasma, hyaluronic acid, serum, etc.) in a specific anatomical area, accurately and without extravasation, as well as performing small added therapeutic gestures such as perforations, tenotomies, exostosectomy, fenestration, aspiration of hematomas, spills, etc.

It is a quick, safe, low-cost therapy, especially if we avoid surgery, and with almost no risks.

PRP treatment in osteomyoarticular pathologiesTreatment with platelet-rich plasma is one of the techniques included in regenerative medicine. It is a concentrate of platelets in a set volume of plasma, which is obtained by centrifugation of the blood.

In regenerative biology, the idea is that inflammation is important in the repair process and that cutting off the inflammatory process negatively interferes with tissue healing. From this idea, what is intended is to heal the injury, activating cells and modulating inflammation, preventing it from being excessive.

The objective of PRP treatment is to take advantage of the content of platelet granules to stimulate, improve the healing and regeneration of tissues, so that they recover their original function after suffering an injury. In this sense, the function of platelets in the tissue repair/regeneration/healing process and its possible clinical application have been studied.

PRP treatment is indicated in the following cases:

  • Degenerative cartilage pathology.
  • Chronic tendinopathies refractory to other treatments.
  • Muscle injuries (partial ruptures).
  • Meniscal injuries not caused by meniscectomy and postmeniscectomy syndromes.
  • Enthesopathies (epicondylitis and epitrochleitis)
  • Ligamentous injuries with chronic pain.
