The PP of Mogán regrets that the municipality is left without blue flags for another year

PP-MOGÁN Wednesday, May 11, 2022

The Ministry of Health reported this Wednesday that the Canary Islands have obtained 54 Blue Flag awards for beaches and 4 for marinas, according to the opinion of the international jury of the Blue Flag environmental program.

This award distinguishes those beaches and marinas that meet the criteria of excellence in the quality of bathing water, comply with environmental regulations, and have adequate health and safety infrastructure to guarantee the health and safety of their users. .

The spokesperson for the Popular Party of Mogán, Maicol Santana, considers it a serious mistake that Mogán, which receives hundreds of thousands of tourists a year and whose citizens and businessmen live mainly from sun and beach tourism, is not even opting to participate in this program that distinguishes the excellence of Spanish beaches. Santana added that the fact that the beaches of Mogán do not appear among the 12 awards that Gran Canaria has obtained means a blow to the tourist image of the municipality, which reduces its competitiveness compared to other destinations.

Maicol Santana recalled that the Popular Party left the Mayor's Office with two of its main beaches with a Blue Flag: Playa de Mogán and Playa de Amadores, "however in recent years it has not even participated in the Blue Flag Program"; an extreme for which the popular will request explanations in this month's ordinary plenary session.

For his part, Maicol Santana has congratulated the company Puerto de Mogán SA and all its workers who, with their efforts, have contributed to Puerto de Mogán once again obtaining this award that places it among the best marinas in the Canary Islands.
