UGT Canarias announces mobilizations for July 11 and 20 to denounce the immobility of the employers' association in the negotiation of the Hospitality Agreement of the province of Las Palmas
The Hospitality, Social Restoration and Tourism sector of FeSMC- UGT Canarias, announced today at a press conference that it will mobilize the workers of the sector on July 11 and 20, in protest against the immobility of the employers to close the negotiation of the sector's collective agreement. These actions, the first of many necessary, will be carried out in front of the headquarters of the Riu Palace Maspalomas hotel complexes and the Hotel Costa Meloneras, respectively.
Francisco Mario Jiménez, head of the hospitality sector at FeSMC-UGT Canarias, has highlighted that the current situation of the group of workers is “unsustainable”, making it more than necessary to activate the negotiations, paralyzed by the lack of interest from the employers. . “We have gone two and a half years without a salary increase, we have understood at all times the situation experienced by the pandemic, but the sector is once again at reasonable figures to assume an upward review of salaries,” he added.
For their part, Francisco González and Mirna Ortega, advisors for the negotiation of the agreement by this union, have agreed in pointing out that the conditions that the employers want to maintain do not adjust to reality. “It is time to draw up a framework agreement that values the effort and sacrifice of our colleagues in the tourism sector; offering a quality service to the tourists who visit us also involves having staff whose conditions are fair,” González clarified. From the Hospitality, Social Restoration and Tourism sector of UGT Canarias, a salary increase of 3% is requested for 2022, 2,5% for 2023 and 2,5% for 2024, this last year with a clause revision to the CPI. Likewise, it highlights the need for at least 65% to have permanent contracts, 10% permanent discontinuous contracts of 9 months and 10% permanent discontinuous contracts of 4 to 9 months of activity.
Those responsible for the sector have sent a letter to the Employers' Association requesting that representatives of the companies and Associations linked to the Sector be present at the next meetings to expedite these negotiations.
