The union of the Vice-Minister of Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, Gustavo Santana, UGT, released this Wednesday the first call of attention to the PSOE regarding labor stability, asking in the south of Gran Canaria for salary increases that have nothing to do with what agreed in the regional environment. This has happened since UGT has lost centers of power in the island's tourism in favor of FSOC and Bases. The union operation affects 60.000 families.
The head of tourism consulting at UGT, Francisco González, said this week that the Las Palmas hotel employers' association is blocking any agreement and that since 2019 there have been no salary increases in the sector, that is, a year before the Covid19 pandemic. González blames the salaries of the hotel business for the fact that there are no Canarians interested in working in this industry.
The first message to the PSOE was sent by the UGT via RIU Hotels on July 11 in Maspalomas and on July 20 against Lopesan Costa Meloneras. The FEHT of Las Palmas has offered a 2% increase without renewal in new years. UGT asks for 3% in 2022 and similar increases in other years until reaching 8%.
