The work, financed by the Department of Education, is headed by an eloquent phrase: “We are what we do to change what we are.”

As a culmination of the 2021-22 school year, the IES Támara de San Bartolomé de Tirajana has just created a mural in the middle of the center's fence, located on Avenida de Tunte, filling the entire area with color, joy and an inclusive sense. the street.

The idea arose from participation in the "Positive Spaces" project at the La Regenta Art Center in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which aims to promote the inclusion of the Sustainable Development Goals through mural projects related to the networks in which the center participates. The artwork is headed by an eloquent phrase: "We are what we do to change what we are."

This original and collaborative project has been carried out thanks to the collaboration and financing of the Department of Education of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, directed by Clara Martel, who personally congratulated the authors of the mural and the teachers who have coordinated the project.

For several months the idea has been worked on, searching for the appropriate phrase and the final design. This work has been carried out by the 4th grade EPVA students.

From June 6 to 17, the students, together with the Drawing Department and collaborating teachers, occupied the sidewalk. There were 21 groups of all levels and studies (ESO, 1st Baccalaureate, 1st FPB, and Nursing Cycle) taught at the center, adding up to a total of 300 people.

Each group was assigned a space of 2 meters and a specific color, which they freely drew and painted with different values and tone of the same color.

“The experience has been incredible and I am eager to continue with the other half of the wall,” said the artists upon seeing their creation completed.
