The FEHT launches aid for the restaurant and leisure sector

The president of the Association of Business Owners of Bars, Cafes, Restaurants and Leisure of Las Palmas, belonging to the FEHT, Fermín Sánchez García, accompanied by Yeray García Herrera, director of the association and manager of the M&M group (El Churrasco restaurant and Café Regina ), have presented today the aid aimed at activating consumption in commercial areas and tourist areas through financial aid aimed at companies in the province that are dedicated to leisure, culture and restaurants.

 

Under the concept “Make it happen. Fill the streets this summer”, from the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of Las Palmas (FEHT) a dissemination campaign will be launched to publicize this call whose registration will open from today, Thursday, June 23 until the 22 July, and for which 2.175.000 euros have been allocated that will serve to cover 100% of the investment made by companies in Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

 

As Fermín Sánchez pointed out, “the objective of this financial aid is to activate consumption both in the hubs and commercial areas with the greatest influx of public and in tourist areas and urban spaces, with the celebration of different actions that attract the attention of the public. to stimulate consumption and make them spend more.”

 

Starting on June 23, entrepreneurs who have projects in the field of performing arts, music and visual arts or gastronomy will be able to present their proposals that must be executed before October 31, 2022.

 

Street theater, performance, dance, urban culture such as HipHop, Graffiti, circus including parades, acrobatics, clowns, juggling, humor, comedy, monologues, magic... are possible events that would fall into axis one of the call focused on arts scenic. In the case of music and visuals, which make up axis two of the aid, live performances, DJs or concerts may be presented, among others. Finally, for axis three related to gastronomy, tastings, product presentations, fairs, showcooking are included, and in addition, those ideas will be valued where kilometer zero products are prioritized as a way to strengthen rural development and the Canarian industry within the restoration.

 

According to the president of the Association, “this initiative will promote dynamization and will be an economic stimulus in those municipalities where they are developed since it is a project that generates direct, indirect and induced employment in the leisure, restaurant, culture and tourism, precisely the sectors that have suffered the most from social and economic paralysis as a consequence of the pandemic.”

 

The FEHT, as a beneficiary of the 2.175.000 subsidy assigned by the Department of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, will provide financial support to make this call a reality.

 

In addition, it will have the technical support of the consulting firm KPMG that will help interested parties present their proposals so that they can be beneficiaries and obtain the necessary investment to carry out their events. Likewise, a webinar will be developed to advise participants and resolve their doubts throughout the application process.

 

From the FEHT they appreciate the trust that the Department of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands has placed in them and are convinced that this will favor the recovery of the sector, which has especially suffered the impact of the economic crisis derived from the pandemic. That is why they are looking forward to the participation of the greatest number of companies so that they can request aid to cover 100% of the investment.

 

With all this, in addition to bringing the public closer to open commercial areas and tourist centers, it will also improve the positioning of the Canary Islands as a reference for cultural tourism, diversifying the traditional offer of sun and beach and expanding the positive impact of the main industry of the islands. to the rest of the less touristic municipalities.
