Good news in Tirajana. The Spanish-Syrian businessman Jamal Satli, owner of the former Marsans group hotel company, BlueBay Bahía Felíz, has renounced his request for public economic support because he considers that the economic environment is more favorable and "the reactivation of demand is already a reality" in the south of Gran Canaria. BlueBay has the chain's technology business in Gran Canaria, present in multiple countries around the world.
The BlueBay Group presented to the SEPI, on February 25, 2021, a Request for Temporary Public Support for an amount of 53 million euros charged to the Solvency Support Fund for Strategic Companies. After this time and on June 24, 2022, the BlueBay Group has informed the SEPI of its willingness to withdraw from said request by sending the corresponding formal letter of withdrawal.
The company explains that that request to the SEPI was part of the group's strategies to manage the pandemic. "At those times, conservative and cautious criteria had to prevail and anticipate possible needs in the event that new waves of Covid emerged, that the pandemic was going to last longer and that the reactivation was going to be delayed in time," justifies the company.
However, circumstances have evolved favorably "and with it their effects on the business." For this reason, BlueBay Hotels considers that "the reactivation of demand is already a reality, which has brought with it the gradual normalization of hotel operations, mobility and
occupations, which constitute the fundamental basis for the recovery of the sector".
The coastal holiday destinations in which the group is established in Spain, such as the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands and the Costa del Sol, have given an "excellent display of strength" and the commercial evolution of reservations and rates "are already those of a period of absolute normality". BlueBay thanks the group of technical experts from SEPI who have been involved in the processing of its file "for the dedication and professionalism they have shown throughout this period."
