After three months of work, the Tibicena company delivers part of the restored works, leaving some tapestries and sculptures by the artist Luis Alemán Montull pending.

The Councilor for Culture and Historical Heritage of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, Elena Espino Santana, has received 41 works of African art, after having spent three months in the workshops of the company Tibicena, Arqueología y Patrimonio SL, which won the tender worth 17.729 euros, for its restoration and conservation.

The purpose of the work carried out has been to stop the degradation process and clean up the existing pathologies, always keeping in mind respect for the historical value of the works to define an intervention that involves protection of the complex against the factors that have caused its degradation. In addition, cleaning work has been carried out using mechanical and aqueous methods, the support of those pieces that have been necessary has been consolidated and the volumetric and chromatic reintegration has been carried out.

In the coming weeks, work will continue on the ten ancient burlap tapestries from the Senufo culture, Ivory Coast, known as KORHOGO FABRICS, made in strips approximately 10 centimeters wide, and sewn together forming a canvas and attached to novopan boards. Also pending is the cleaning and consolidation work on the sculptures by the Canarian sculptor Luis Alemán Montull, located in the Plaza de Fataga and Santiago de Tunte.

Historical heritage of the municipality

The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana is the owner of an important collection of works of art, both pictorial, sculptural and photographic that are part of its artistic heritage. For this reason, in 2017, a system of combs and shelves was installed in one of the warehouses located in the basement of the Municipal Offices, located in San Fernando de Maspalomas, to be able to accommodate in an orderly manner and make a correct installation, from that municipal property artistic fund.
