That same day, at XNUMX:XNUMX a.m., a tribute ceremony will be held at the aforementioned location as a sign of recognition of the honesty and affection that is professed in the municipality.
Adopted son of the Villa de Ingenio, Manuel Trujillo was one of the mainstays who will not be ignored in the history of Maninidra. Born in 1936, he stood out for his initiative to take the Canarian struggle beyond our borders. Based for several years on his other island, Cuba, Barranquera promoted this native sport by creating teams and spreading the fight both in his new residence and in Gran Canaria. His political involvement and his struggle beyond the field led him to have a prominent place in life and social development.
After his death at the beginning of this month of July, the Maninidra Wrestling Club and the Ingenio City Council have worked together with the wrestler's family to have Barranquera back in the Terrero de Ingenio. Let us remember that the organization invites citizens to participate in this tribute – funeral to be celebrated on Sunday, July 24 from 10.00:13.00 a.m. -XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. This was confirmed by Juan Díaz, Minister of Employment and Local Development of the GC Council, architect and organizer of this tribute, who extended his call to the population to be present at this emotional meeting.
