Andrés Herrera's cousin gets Nueva Canarias into trouble

Dácil Santana Tuesday, July 26, 2022

Bad times for lyric. The cousin of Andrés Herrera, the legendary leader of CCN and former Tourism Minister of Gran Canaria, from Castillo del Romeral, Francisco Herrera Rodríguez, has gotten into trouble in his capacity as sole administrator of Nueva Canarias, the party that emerged in the southeast of Gran Canaria and whose leader is Román Rodríguez. The party headquarters in Tirajana is paid for by the residents of the municipality with their taxes, denounces the Court of Auditors in a report on 2017.

At that time, since the report is from 2022, the leader of the NC in Tirajana was Ángel López. Participating in the 2023 local elections will be practically impossible with those acronyms because the Neighborhood Group could demand accountability for the NC headquarters in El Tablero and urge justice to carry out the sentence resulting from having one of the irregularities detected precisely in the municipal area of AV in the south of Gran Canaria. The seriousness of the matter is such that the appointment of the new local leader is clearly from a party that does not exist and that presented allegations at the time.

Nueva Canarias has legally disappeared due to a final ruling that was not appealed in July 2021, as reported last week in Tenerife Diario de Avisos and reported in Las Palmas this Monday by La Provincia. The NC councilors must move to the non-attached group in Tirajana and Mogán, not to mention the rest of the municipalities, councils and Parliament of the Canary Islands where they have elected members. The Canarian party has even lost the CIF: there is no one who can pay or collect services on behalf of this formation.

Herrera is an accountant and since 1996 he has been connected with the NC management in Las Palmas and in the southeast. This is a person of the utmost confidence of the head of the NC apparatus, Carmelo Ramírez, who this Monday admitted that a sentence has made Nueva Canarias illegal. Ramírez said that NC was going to present allegations but it already did so in 2020 without Francisco Herrera Rodríguez being of any use, as Maspalomas24H has been able to verify and compare.

The TCU report does not clarify how much is paid by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council to the NC headquarters, but it does warn you that this behavior is reprehensible. Since 2020, Herrera Rodríguez, who is also the NC coordinator in the Gran Canaria Cabildo, has been reprimanded by the State Court of Accounts because the Nueva Canarias headquarters in Tirajana is paid for by the city council and not the party directly. The TCU has denounced that this behavior is "irregular."
