The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Concepción Narváez (PSOE), already has since this Thursday the approval of the leadership of the insular PSOE to opt again to repeat the mayor's office and Carlos Álamo to maintain his position in the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, where Augusto Hildalgo is beginning to configure the list for the 2023 elections.
In 2023, it will be twenty years since the current mayor became councilor for Culture, Youth and Equality and in 2005, mayor of the municipality. After a period of absence in 2019, she won the mandate again until 2027. Fear over the displacement of the cement company now helps the PSOE to prepare local elections with Nueva Canarias without a legal party due to a court ruling. PSOE does not want anyone from the defunct NC on the Tirajana lists.
Narváez's political agenda is cleared because the Government of the Canary Islands hopes to grant Corporación Masaveu 10 more years to abandon the El Pajar facilities. Meanwhile, the working commission created by the Canary Islands Government to study what use to give to the dock when the concession ends in October 2022 has already developed 7 alternatives and one of them is hybrid: that the cement company move in 2032. It has already been transferred information about these possibilities to representatives of Masaveu and the tourist association.
