The German police authorities have issued an alert message to locate a backpack tourist who has disappeared after spending a few days this August in the south of Gran Canaria. For two weeks the family of Oliver Heise, a native of Diepholz (Lower Saxony), has not heard from him and that is since August 3. He is 23 years old and the family has filed a formal complaint.
Oliver Heise's family has launched a social media campaign hoping for clues about the missing man's whereabouts. "He flew to Gran Canaria on August 3," reports Lukas Heise. “He spent the night there in a cave and then wanted to travel to Tenerife and La Gomera. But we haven't heard from him since August 4."
"He normally reports every day and is used to backpacking," he continues. The missing Oliver Heise is 1,75 meters tall, has dark blonde hair, a slightly dark red beard and weighs around 75 kilograms. Both Spanish and German police authorities are handling the missing person case. Stolzenau police said in a statement that both the lack of contact with his family and the lack of travel posts on Oliver's Instagram profile were highly unusual.
