Investing in the south of Gran Canaria has become a quick way to obtain benefits as a result of the European crisis, that is, Maspalomas has become a refuge destination. From models to European political figures or people from the world of TV, they have set their sights on Playa del Inglés as an investment. Many of these investors buy apartments and live in them, placing the management in vacation rental housing companies, violating the basic rule of a harmonized and competitive destination.
One of them is the television presenter, performer and, perhaps, the most famous Italian from Latvia, Roberto Meloni. Meloni started a wedding and events company. The Italian audience leader is dedicated to organizing parties in the south of Gran Canaria and saving a certain amount of money, which he invested in the purchase of real estate. "I have a small bungalow-style apartment in Gran Canaria with several of my friends who live nearby. I go when I want to get away from everything and just enjoy the sun and warmth," he said.
Meloni has pointed out that the last one cost him about 130.000 euros and that he hopes to recover part of this amount by renting the apartment when he himself does not live in it. Roberto Meloni participated twice from Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2007 and 2008, finishing 16th and 12th respectively.
