The different controls carried out on the occasion of the traditional seafaring pilgrimage had the participation of numerous members of the Civil Guard and managed to detect numerous drivers with blood alcohol levels higher than the legal limits.

The Civil Guard carried out, in the exercise of its specific functions, the operational devices that are part of the planning of services for the prevention of risk behaviors related to the consumption of alcohol, toxic drugs and narcotics while driving with the In order to eradicate this type of unsupportive behavior and contrary to current regulations, the Las Palmas Traffic Subsector will continue to reinforce and enhance the implementation of this type of controls in all those festive events with mass influx.

 

For this reason, the operations focused on the establishment of devices on interurban roads leading into and out of the places where such events took place.

 

The Civil Guard reminds that all road users, whether pedestrians or drivers, must behave in a way that does not endanger, cause damage to people or property, or inconvenience other users.

 

Likewise, drivers whose alcohol levels show values ​​higher than those criminally established in article 379.2 of the Penal Code, 0,60 mg/l in exhaled air, or 1,2 grams per liter in blood, face prison sentences of three to six months, to the sanction of a fine of six to twelve months or with the sentence of carrying out work for the benefit of the community of thirty-one to ninety days, and in any case, with the deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for longer periods between one and four years.
