Narváez: “We aim to turn our municipality, in addition to being a great tourism brand, into a benchmark for Research, Innovation and Development”
This morning, the signing ceremony of the agreement for the organization of the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Conchi Narváez and the rector of the ULPGC, Lluís Serra, who signed it.
The first mayor highlighted that “we celebrate the tenth edition of the Forum with a special meaning, coinciding with the 60 years of the birth of our brand 'Maspalomas Costa Canaria'. She added that this meeting “will turn San Bartolomé de Tirajana, once again, into an international laboratory to analyze trends, share experiences and cross-reference criteria on the present and future of Tourism.”
The event was also attended by the municipality's Tourism Councilor, Inés Rodríguez; the Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo; the former first rector of the academic institution, today vice president of the Las Palmas University Foundation, Francisco Rubio Royo, and the dean of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, and president of the Organizing Committee, Juan Manuel Benítez.
In the words of Serra, “this forum has established itself as a top-level meeting with experts in the tourism sector from all over the world and will be, as on previous occasions, coordinated by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, whose dean Juan Manuel Benítez del Rosario, who acts as president of the organizing committee.”
Narváez, for his part, highlighted that "this initiative is further consolidated and catapults the name of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, that of Gran Canaria and of the university institution itself, to the four cardinal points of Europe and the world."
The mayor of Tourism stated “that today is a very special day, along with the special relevance for being an emblematic year as the sixth decade of the tourism brand that identifies our destination is completed. “We continue to celebrate this forum and commit to sustainable tourism development for San Bartolomé de Tirajana.”
The XNUMXth International Forum includes, in addition to the presentations and communications, the celebration of parallel events: a scientific conference, debate days and the Gastroforum.
The inaugural conference will be given by Christopher Pissarides, Nobel Prize winner in Economics in 2010, and an expert in the area of the impact of technology on the evolution of work.
Also the Tourism Minister of the island institution, Carlos Álamo, remarked that “we are at a turning point in which it is very important to know the trends in the sector and speak with experts, and from Gran Canaria Tourism we will take note of the conclusions "Let them leave the Forum."
The first mayor ended her speech by saying that “the commitment of this mayor, from the first minute I took office, is to make our municipality, in addition to a great tourist brand as we already are, a benchmark for Research, Innovation and the develop".
