The Mogán City Council, in order to maintain order in the municipality and avoid a comparative offense between commercial establishments, has initiated eight disciplinary proceedings in the last year at the proposal of the Local Police after detecting the occupation of public roads with tables, chairs and other elements by various businesses that do not have the corresponding authorization.
Of the eight files, four have already been resolved with infractions classified as very serious in the 'Municipal Ordinance of the Occupation of Public Domain with tables, chairs, umbrellas and other similar elements', for which penalties ranging from 1.501 to 3.000 are established. euros.
The fined establishments – cafes and restaurants – were offering a terrace service to their clientele without being in possession of the necessary authorization, conduct that the City Council cannot ignore since the aforementioned regulations cover each and every one of the businesses. who wish to occupy part of the public road, which must also be duly prepared and delimited for this purpose in order to guarantee the safety of users as well as the workers themselves.
If the occupation of public domain is not controlled, the municipality could plunge into chaos, especially in tourist areas since the largest number of restaurants and businesses are concentrated there. The Mogán Local Police will continue to ensure order and if this type of illegality is detected, the corresponding sanctioning procedures will be initiated.
