The City of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, through the Departments of Health and Environment, continues to advance the fumigation and mosquito control plan, this week in the area around the Charca de Maspalomas and in the Tony Gallardo Park.
The objective is to reduce a hypothetical adverse impact that could cause the presence of pests of these insects in said natural enclaves. To do this, operators from a specialized company have been applying preventive and corrective measures based on the use of biocides.
In relation to mosquito treatments in La Charca, surveillance began after the episode of tropical storm 'Hermine' occurred, between September 28 and October 6, which affected the entire Canary Islands.
The operators assessed, through diagnosis, the conditions of the Pond itself and the ravine in order to begin the mandatory treatments, since water was still flowing.
During this week, interventions continue at the site on the right bank of La Charca, using a pickup vehicle with a motorized sprayer.
Prevention work at Tony Gallardo
The interventions that are being carried out in the Tony Gallardo Park are limited to the application of a larvicide product against mosquito larvae, both in the lagoons and in the water channels of this protected space, also in a preventive manner.
Note that all these actions will be complemented with a new reinforcement treatment on October 20 and 21 in the areas described.
It should be remembered that these treatments do not entail any risk to humans or flora and fauna. Therefore, the application of chemical products does not require precautionary measures that must be followed before and after the action.
Precisely, these components are not classified as dangerous for human health and the environment, according to the European Regulation.
