15 farmers were trained in the correct handling and application of phytosanitary products, as well as the environmental risks derived from their use, among other knowledge
Coag-Canarias has organized a basic level phytosanitary product handler course, which has been financed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of the Government of Spain, and in which the Department of Agriculture and Livestock of the City Council of San Bartolomé has collaborated of Tirajana directed by the councilor María Ángeles Rodríguez Vega.
The course, which was free and with a total of 25 teaching hours, began at the facilities of the El Tablero Training Center on Monday, October 3 and concluded last Monday, October 10. At the closing, the councilor wanted to highlight “the increase in the participation of young people, both men and women, which demonstrates the interest aroused by this type of courses, which is why we will continue working to continue developing this and other types of targeted training "mainly, to the farmers of our municipality."
During its development, 15 farmers acquired knowledge about crop pests and diseases, content of phytosanitary product labels, environmental risks derived from their use and measures to reduce health risks, among other topics.
The objective of the course is to train attendees in the correct handling and application of phytosanitary products. After completion, the participants had to pass an exam to obtain the corresponding basic level phytosanitary product handler card.
