Last Saturday, October 15, San Roque University Hospitals organized with Foresta a reforestation day in the Heredad de Aguas de Firgas and Arucas, which was attended by cancer patients.
Almost eighty people, including the health team of the oncology service, the staff of the Spanish Association against Cancer and the Canary Islands Association of Breast and Gynecological Cancer, family members and cancer patients, came to nature to receive all the benefits that contribute and share a day of experiences and good moments, contributing to improving the environmental health of all Canarians.

Attendees shared a day of experiences and good times, which also served to contribute to improving the environmental health of all the Canary Islands. After the welcome, a distribution of caps and sunscreen was carried out to begin planting almost two hundred trees with the instructions of the Foresta team. Finally, a picnic was enjoyed that allowed us to regain strength and exchange opinions about the experience before returning to the city.

Testimony of Dr. Pedro Lara-Head of Oncology at HUSR: “The act of planting symbolizes the hope of patients when they receive their treatment, because we plant with the hope that the tree will bear fruit. That's what we do when we work with cancer patients, we sow the future. We hope to return in a few years and see that these trees have grown and that we have contributed to improving the health of our patients and the health of the island.”
