New Drone Unit for fighting fires in San Bartolomé de Tirajana

The SEIS will soon be equipped with two drone units that will be used to act in different emergency situations.

The Fire Fighting and Rescue Service of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana (SEIS), in order to continue with the acquisition of cutting-edge material and technical means, will soon acquire two drone units that will be used to combat fires. Their budget amounts to about 15 thousand euros in total. For this purpose, the SEIS Drone Unit Service will be created.

 

"Previously, several members of the Fire Department will be trained in this discipline, which will result in greater efficiency, effectiveness and speed when extinguishing the fire, although they may also be used in other emergency situations that may occur in the municipality. ”. This was announced by the councilor responsible for this municipal area, Orlando Cabrera.

 

The winning company (the contract is currently being put out to tender) will be responsible for both the training of the operators and the advice on the use, operation and maintenance of the devices, and must also assume all the procedures and training necessary to manage the necessary permits and registrations in the corresponding Institutions for the commissioning of the SEIS drone unit.

Specifically, two members of the Fire Fighting and Rescue Service will receive training as professional drone pilots, which will accredit them to fly these devices in a specific category throughout Spanish and European territory.

 

Two other officials will take the advanced operator course; This advanced training is necessary to know the necessary documentation for the professional drone operator, and learn to use the coordination tools with the different airport providers, Ministry of the Interior, Air Staff, heliports, aerodrome, etc.

 

Finally, two other personnel will carry out the Radio Player Course,
training necessary to obtain the Mandatory Official Certification to be able to pilot a drone within controlled airspace, as well as necessary to be able to request flights within CTR.
