The PP-AV, led by Elena Álamo Vega, made public on Tuesday morning its complaint regarding the failed proposal by the Tirajan city council to obtain the Extraordinary Tourism Sustainability Plan.
The Tourism Sustainability Plan has been an element of dispute in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The opposition has directly pointed out the municipality's mayor's office in response to the non-admission of its tourism project, thus leaving San Bartolomé de Tirajana without the possibility of receiving the financing stipulated in said project.
Elena Álamo stated that the total amount of projects presented throughout the archipelago by different entities for the Sustainability Plan amounted to 191.529.950,55 € and that the local council did not appear at the ordinary call, whose period was from February 18 to March 31; but nevertheless it did do so in the extraordinary call, which closed its admission of proposals on May 17.
From a group of neighbors they report that for said call, from Gran Canaria they presented two projects; one from the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council itself and another from the Tejeda City Council. Elena Álamo also pointed out the amount of both projects, being 673.000 € by San Bartolomé de Tirajana and 2.863.000 € by Tejeda.
The problem comes with the resolution of said call, being excluded the San Bartolomé de Tirajana project and the Tejeda project being accepted and, according to the spokesperson of the popular group, the rest of the Canarian entities that presented their candidacy. Elena Álamo explained that said exclusion from the Tirajan project, which was framed within the typology Rural destination with tourist identity, is due to two main causes: formal errors in the presentation of the project and ignorance of the minimum amount of investment, which, as the popular spokesperson commented, for the name to which the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council adopted was of, at least, one million euros. Some amounts that are still reflected on the website of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, where the bases of said call are stipulated.
From the PP-AV They classified it as inadmissible to have lost an opportunity of such caliber for the municipality, which they believe has more than enough capacity to have continued forward in the Tourism Sustainability Plan; Therefore, they demand responsibilities from the mayor, Concepción Nárvaez, and her partners. The popular ones consider that “he has no forgiveness” having lost such an opportunity for the development of the municipality and that “It's enough to tease the neighbors”
Elena Álamo ended her appearance by stating that the municipal council must assume the consequences of this situation and on behalf of the PP-AV she has requested that “for the first time they get to work” and that “It's enough with so many photos for the gallery, with so much selling smoke and posturing”
