The leader of the Canarian Coalition in the Tirajan municipality encourages more than 500 people to present his candidacy

Marichal is committed to reversing the management model of municipal services, I am willing to do it. I have no ties from the past

María Fernández: “The freshness, professionalism and seriousness of Alejandro Marichal places him as the best mayor that San Bartolomé de Tirajana can have.

Pablo Rodríguez: “This municipality has a government that is not up to par. Marichal will be the mayor who makes the municipality re-emerge”

The presentation of Alejandro Marichal to the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana by the Canarian Coalition beat all the organization's expectations, bringing together more than 500 residents who wanted to get to know the candidate more closely. The event was developed dynamically, with the participation of the attendees who led the presentation through the questions asked of the candidate.

Marichal explained his work and projects to the audience in a direct event, without speeches, with proposals and involving the neighbors. In this way he responded to “real doubts, without duplicity and, if you will allow me the expression, with open chest”, just as he stated. Among the doubts raised, he highlighted what his work was like during his time in the local government, his achievements and the difficulties that his political group went through during the two years in which he was Councilor for Tourism, Urban Planning, Housing and Human Resources; as well as his current work in the opposition.

The candidate highlighted that in the last 20 years "this municipality has been governed by apathy, disinterest, lack of objectives and management" for which he called on the residents to get going, to "get out." from the comfort zone and bet on change so that San Bartolomé de Tirajana can obtain different results” This municipality, he continued, needs a government that plans, works, is serious and brave. “Those are the values that municipal management needs and they are the values that I am instilling in the team that accompanies me. New, professional, hard-working people, and best of all, good people. "I have clear ideas, I know what needs to be done the day after winning the elections."

At the presentation he was accompanied by María Fernández, Deputy in Congress for the Province of Las Palmas and the next candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria by the Canary Coalition; who highlighted that “Alejandro Marichal's freshness, professionalism and seriousness places him as the best mayor that San Bartolomé de Tirajana can have. He represents the team of change, of illusion, of modernity; In short, the team that will be able to place the municipality at the forefront.” Also present was the insular secretary of the Canarian Coalition in Gran Canaria, and candidate for the Parliament of the Canary Islands for the island of Gran Canaria, who highlighted that although San Bartolomé de Tirajana is the most important tourist municipality in Spain “it has a government that It is not up to scratch. Marichal will be the mayor who brings the municipality back to life and will have all our support from all institutions: Government of the Canary Islands, Parliament of the Canary Islands, Congress of Deputies and from the Cabildo of Gran Canaria."

During the event, attendees were especially curious to know the real reasons why he and his political group were expelled from the municipal government. Marichal explained that “we make decisions and touch upon the interests of the parties that have been governing in the last 20 years. We worked, as the mayor herself said, like little ants and it seemed like the mayor in the shadows. It is evident that they fired us out of professional zeal, and not because we were lazy.” Likewise, he indicated that in addition to his achievements in his management in Urban Planning, Housing, Tourism and Human Resources, the achievement of which he was most proud is “having the ability to join forces and groups. During my time, the Tourism Sector Council was convened after many years, and I began the process of dialogue and consensus between the Administration, the private sector and civil society in order to jointly develop a comprehensive plan for tourism."

What will be the first thing he will do when he is the mayor? asked one of the attendees to which Marichal responded “the first thing to change after the 2023 elections is the management model and what we propose is to make the Administration work as a private company to improve the services that are currently being provided in a deficient manner: Roads and works, Playgrounds, Parks and gardens and even Sports; and this is only possible by including audit teams that ensure compliance with the service.”

He also highlighted the need to meet with the Government of the Canary Islands “which I hope will be Fernando Clavijo” to launch the public promotion of social housing, reactivate the Maspalomas Modernization Plan for approval and the Del Veril Modernization Plan for the Sima Park, as well as promoting the tender for the works of Playa del Pirata, among other matters. In addition, sit down with the Cabildo of Gran Canaria “with María Fernández as president” to promote the tender for the San Bartolomé de Tirajana senior residence. On the other hand, he added, the constitution of a Commonwealth with Mogán, to bring together certain common services “in search of efficiency and effectiveness in management. With fewer resources, do more,” Marichal explained.

The round of questions was conducted by the directors of some of the most prominent media outlets in southern Gran Canaria such as Radio Faro, Radio Sol, Maspalomas Ahora and Radio Top 21, who also asked some of the questions asked by their listeners and readers.
