Celtas Cortos, Yotuel and Tabaiba light up the night in Veneguera

Maspalomas24h Sunday, October 30, 2022

In its thirty-first edition, the Veneguera Meeting has once again stood out for its appreciation of traditions and respect for the environment, but also for its alternative nature, which allows it to bring together artists from different genre and origin such as Yotuel, Celtas Cortos and Tabaiba, who shined last night and gave their all before a dedicated audience, who also enjoyed the surprise appearances of El Vega and Chris Tamayo, and with DJ Nichel B.

As night fell, the stage lit up to give way to a highly anticipated concert after three years since the last one as a result of the health crisis. The festive atmosphere, which from 11:00 a.m. permeated the entire neighborhood with the fair, the workshops and the multiple activities held, moved to the soccer field, where attendees first jumped to the rhythm of Tabaiba with its songs of Jamaican influences and Latin songs that emerged from the mixture of the diverse origins of the nine musicians that make up the group.

Later it was the turn of Celtas Cortos. Those from Valladolid repeated their experience at the Veneguera Meeting, where they performed for the first time in 1996. The last time they stepped on the stage of the Moganero enclave was in 2014, coinciding with the twenty-fifth anniversary of the event, and last night they did it again with strength and rock that characterizes them. After touring all over Spain this year, they arrived in Veneguera with a repertoire that brought together the band's 30 years of history. There was no shortage of popular songs such as 'April 20', 'Tell me a story' or 'Senda del tiempo', undoubtedly chanted by the attendees.

Veneguera also received with open arms the Cuban singer and composer Yotuel, who came alone for the first time, since in 2003 he did so with the group Orishas of which he was a part. The dissident presented his 'Patria y Vida' tour, which bears the same name as the song he composed and performs with other Cuban artists and which motivated thousands of compatriots to take to the streets demanding freedom and defense of Human Rights. This song accompanied other hits such as 'Suerte' and 'A lo Cubano'.

With Yotuel came the surprises of the night. El Vega, also a friend of the festival - he participated in 2014 and 2019 -, came to present 'Psaporte islaño', a new song in which he collaborates with the Cuban, a tribute to the Canary Islands for the support he gave the artist since he began his journey with Orishas in our country. Another who did not miss the event last night with the Veneguera Meeting was the Cuban singer Chris Tamayo. With more than 20 million views in Latin America, he performed the hit 'Lambo in Varadero' with Yotuel.
