The Firefighters of the Services of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the GC Emergency Consortium, received specific training in intervention of contingencies with dangerous goods, in a training course called "Basic Intervention with MMPP. PEMERCA Plan. PAM -MMPP" that took place for three days at the SBT Fire Station, organized by the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Canary Islands executive.
The activity was aimed at guaranteeing the organization and precise action procedures of the security forces, in the event of an emergency caused by an accident with this type of substances.
SBT Fire Sergeant, Julio Umpiérrez, said that “our municipality is one of the largest consumers of propane, among others, due to the intense activity of the tourism sector” in addition to the “transfer of vehicles that transport fuel, which makes our preparation and training for this type of accidents.”
Specific objectives
- Identify and apply intervention techniques in contingencies caused by accidents with dangerous goods. Identify dangerous substances and potential risks derived from accidents with them.
- Publicize the PEMERCA Plan, the PAM-MMPP and its operation.
- Protocolize the procedures to be followed by the intervening groups, before, during and after the intervention with MMPP.
- Know the main circulation flows of the MMPP by road in the Canary Islands
